Economic Activities
Economic activities are the activities conducted with the objective to earn money. As the name itself says, economic means related to money.
So, basically there are three types of economic activities:-
- Primary Activities
- Secondary Activities
- Tertiary Activities
We will discuss each of them in detail.
Primary Activities
- Primary Economic Activities involve conversion of natural resources into primary products. Thus, we can say that this sector is directly associated with nature.
- It includes agriculture, fishing, mining, forestry, and extraction of oil & gas.
Secondary Activities
- Secondary Economic Activities include activities that end up creating a finished, tangible product.
- It includes manufacturing and construction.
- Here, natural products are changed into other forms through manufacturing which may take place in a factory, workshop, or at home.
- Examples include yarn and cloth weaving from cotton, sugar and gur (jaggery) from sugarcane.
Tertiary Activities
- The activities that help in the development of Primary and Secondary sectors are covered in tertiay sector.
- These activities don't produce goods, but they provide services that support the production process.
- Examples include transport, storage, communication, banking, etc.
