There are two examples of racial discrimination in this extract. The basis of the discrimination is the fact that Shylock is not a Christian, but a Jew and therefore is considered an outsider as well as evil.

The first example refers to Lorenzo saying that being a Jew, Shylock will naturally be denied entry to heaven, but just in case he makes it to heaven, it will not be because of any of his good actions. Instead it will be because Jessica is his daughter. Her good nature will save him. Here it is important to note that Jessica is about to elope with Lorenzo and convert to Christianity. So, Shylock will get God's blessings because his daughter crossed over to Christianity.

The second example is when Lorenzo says that Jessica will not have any bad luck or bad phase in her life. But if she does, it will only be because she is Shylock's daughter and Shylock is 'faithless' Jew, meaning that since he is a Jew, he does not have a faith or religion. The bottomline is that one needs to be a Christian to have a religion. No other religion deserves to be called a religion. So, the cause of all her troubles will be her father being Jewish.
