Answer:

The thermite process is a chemical reaction in which a metal oxide (preferrably molten) are displaced by another molten metal which is more reactive than the metal in the metal oxide, releasing a lot of heat.

Examples :

1. Aluminium reacting with Iron(III) oxide gives Aluminium oxide and Iron.

2.Copper oxide reacting with Aluminium to give Copper along with Aluminium oxide.

Equations:

2Al + Fe2O3→ Al2O3 + 2Fe

3 CuO + 2 Al → 3 Cu + Al2O3
