Two daily life examples which clearly illustrate the presence of friction:

1. You are riding a bicycle. Then, after sometime you stop pedaling. What happens then ? According to the newton's first law of motion as long a no external force acts on the bicycle the bicycle should move with a uniform velocity, which doesn't happens. Rather after some time the bicycle automatically stops. How? This happened all because of the presence of friction, which came in to action and stopped the bicycle, changing its state of motion.

2. You kick a ball, according to newton's laws it should then keep on moving with a constant velocity as long as no external force acts on it, however that doesn't happen, rather after some time its stops. the reason my dear friend is the same as for the observation above.

Thank You,

Best of Luck.
