First of all, what is Archaebacteria?

Ans - Archaebacteria is a sub-division of the kingdom "Monera".

But, in the six kingdom system of biological classification, for the 1st time, Archaebacteria was given the status of a kingdom.

The two main features of Archaebacteria are as follows :-

  • The cell wall of Archaebacteria is made up of "*Glycoprotien".

  • The D.N.A of Archaebacteria contains "Introns" in it.

  • The presence of "Introns" in the D.N.A. of Archaebacteria is a eukaryotic feature.

  • 3 types of R.N.A. polymerase are present in Archaebacteria.

  • Archaebacteria is comparatively more primitive than Eubacteria.

*Note :-

"Glycoprotien" is also known as "Pseudomurin".

  • Mostly these Archaebacteria are anaerobes.

  • The cell wall of Archaebacteria is made up of complex polysaccharides and polypeptide.

  • The cell membrane is composed of single layer branched chain molecules of lipids.

  • They have a good resistance ability against heat, salinity and PH etc.

  • These Archaebacteria are mostly found in harsh, and adverse conditions.
