Answer:

There are some necessary conditions for rusting are as follows as:

  • Due to the presence of oxygen and water which is slightly acidic in nature. It causes rusting because water and Oxygen is essential for rusting.
  • Pure iron don't rust in dry and Carbon dioxide.
  • Oxygen is very useful for rusting of iron because oxygen reacts very fast with metals called reducing agent.
  • Acids and other salts also cause rusting of iron because sometimes salts and acids reacts with metals like iron to form rusting.

first of all, what's rusting?

rusting is the process of corrosion in iron. when iron get corroded. a layer of reddish brown layer forms on it and it's called rust.

necessary conditions for rusting to occur :-

  • corrosion takes place in the presence of oxygen and water. so air and moisture (water) are necessary for rusting.

  • also acidic gases like carbondioxide (Co2), sulphur dioxide (So2) etc increase the rate of rusting.
