GMT - Greenwich Mean Time

Named after the place Greenwich, England and in use since 1884. It is measured from the Greenwich Meridian Line at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich.

**This is the place from where all time zones are measured.**

IST - Indian Standard Time

India operates on a single time zone

IST is 5.5 hours ahead of GMT

Eg: If current GMT is 8:43 AM the IST (which is GMT + 5.5) is 2:13 PM
