1.  A beaker must be kept under the mouth of the can so that we could measure the weight of water displaced by the solid during the experiment for buoyancy

2.  Fill the can fully and let the excess water overflow through the mouth. Keep the can as stable as possible or else more water will move out and so does the precision of the activity
