Question:-

Give two probable reasons for excessive current in electrical circuits.

Answer :-

Two probable reasons for excessive current in electrical circuits :

(i) When there is excess voltage .

By Ohm's Law:

V ∝ I

Potential difference is directly proportional to current.

This means that if there is high voltage or potential difference then there will be heavy current .

This also implies that if the voltage is too low , then there will be less current flowing !

(ii) When the resistance becomes zero .

By Ohm's Law :

V = I R

==> I = V / R

Put R = 0 .....

Current I = V / 0

Then I = infinity .

Moreover here is a logical explanation :

Resistance is the obstruction in the path of the current.

If resistance is zero , then the current will be heavy because there will be no more obstruction !

So a heavy current will flow .......

Hope it helps !
