(i) When there is excess voltage .
By Ohm's Law:
V ∝ I
Potential difference is directly proportional to current.
This means that if there is high voltage or potential difference then there will be heavy current .
This also implies that if the voltage is too low , then there will be less current flowing !
(ii) When the resistance becomes zero .
By Ohm's Law :
V = I R
==> I = V / R
Put R = 0 .....
Current I = V / 0
Then I = infinity .
Moreover here is a logical explanation :
Resistance is the obstruction in the path of the current.
If resistance is zero , then the current will be heavy because there will be no more obstruction !
So a heavy current will flow .......
