The amount of solar energy in a given area is greater at the equator than in an equal area at the poles, which is why the equator temperature is warmer than the polar temperatures

The regions close to equator, experience high temperature throughout the year because of the following reasons:-

  1. The rays of the sun fall vertically over the equator for most of the time throughout the year.
  2. There is almost equal daylight duration throughout the year and during the Equinoxes of 21st March and 23rd September, the daylight duration is the highest over there. But places far away from the equator in the either hemispheres have variable daylight durations, and it is decreased for a long time-period during the months with solstices(Days are the shortest in the northern hemisphere on 22nd December and shortest in the southern hemisphere on 21st June).
