The British rule in India was exploitative and responsible for industrial stagnation of India. The two reasons of Industrial stagnation of India are :

1. Import of cheap finished goods from Britain and export of raw materials from India was the main cause of Industrial stagnation in India. Indian goods could not compete with cheap goods from Britain.

2.  The economic drain of Wealth from India prevented formation of capital in the country which could have been invested in industrial sector.
