Sugar is a pure substance and not a mixture becuase:
- It is a homogenous mixture:
- Homogenous mixture refers to a mixture where the molecules in the mixtures are distributed evenly. The composition of every molecule is uniform.
- Sugar molecule has a very evenly distributed structure and same amount of 'X' atom is always present in all divided sections of the molecule.
2. The atoms making up sugar cannot be separated:
- It is impossible to separate all the atoms from C6H12O6 formula of sugar.
- As it can't be easily separated, we consider it to be a substance and not a mixture as all mixtures can be separated.
