hi, friends

see this answer

(a) Water at room temperature is a liquid, because at room temperature, water exits as liquid. Above 100°C, it exits as boiling water or vapour, and below 0°C it exists as ice.

(b) The boiling point of iron is 2860°C, its melting point is 1538°C. An iron almirah is a solid at room temperature, because he melting point of iron is very high, 1538°C. At any temperature below this and also at room temperature, iron exists as solid.

Give two reasons to justify a. Water at room temperature is a liquid. b. An iron almirah is a solid at room temperature.

Solution : a. At room temperature (25°C), water is a liquid because it has the following characteristics of liquid:

(i) At room temperature, water has no shape but has a fixed volume i.e., it occupies the shape of the container in which it is kept.

(ii) At room temperature, water flows easily.

b. An iron almirah is a solid at room temperature (25°C) because: (i) It has a definite shape and volume like a solid at room temperature.

(ii) It is rigid as solid at room temperature.
