1. Birth Place of Indus-Valley Civilisation:

Due the fertile soil and flat terrain, this plain has seen many great Empires like the Maurya Empire,Nanda Empire,Gupta Empire, The Delhi Sultanate and Finally the Mughal Empire.

All these Empires had their influential Capitals and Demographic and Political centres in the Indo-Gangetic Plains.

2. Aryavarta:

During the Vedic era, it was along the plains of the Indus and Ganga river that the Vedas were Compiled.

This Land was referred to as Aryavarta ( The Land of Aryans).

The Turks,Persians and Muslim invaders referred to this are as ‘Hindustan’ (Land Of Hindus).

This term was later used for the whole country.
