Give two reasons why rivers are important ?

. Few most important uses would be:-

Supplying water for domestic and industrial purposes.

Hydro-electric power generation:- Rivers in their upper courses, with steep gorges and waterfalls, provide natural sites where hydroelectric power stations can be set up.

Irrigation:- This was one of the earliest reasons why our ancient civilizations were developed in river valleys. Even today, irrigation canals are developed which are fed by the main streams.

Transportation:- Inland water transport is based highly on rivers. There are national waterways in India for example.
