Thar is known to be a desert area because of lower water resource which lead to less population.
Moreover the Aravaili hills present near the Thar desert obstructs the rainfall of south west monsoon.
This causes low rainfall in these region.

RuhaniC: Nope :/ 2nd point is fine but the first one is inappropriate

thar is a desert as:
1.the Aravalli hills present near the Thar desert obstructs the rainfall of south west monsoon. This causes low rainfall in these region.
2.The average annual rainfall of the region varies from 100 to 500 mm, it is distributed very erratically, occurring mostly between July and September.

karthikeya0kk: so will aravali ranges cause low rainfall over there or they obstruct south west monsoons and cause rainfall over there.....i'm little confused....please help
