Answer:

Voluntary muscles work according to our will hence they are called voluntary muscles.Voluntary Muscles are also known as striped or skeletal muscles. These muscle fibres show alternate dark and light stripes so they are called striped muscles. They are also attached to bones and are responsible for body movements so, they are called skeletal muscles.

STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS :

1.These muscle fibres are long or elongated non tapering and cylindrical, unbranched.

2. Each voluntary muscle is multinucleated.

3. Each voluntary muscle is enclosed in a thin but distinct plasma membrane called sarcolemma.

4. Nuclei are located just beneath the sarcolemma.

5. In the cytoplasm (sacroplasm) of the voluntary muscle are embedded large number of contractile elements called myofibrils.
