Answer.

Non-metals react with hydrogen to form covalent hydrides. For example, nitrogen, oxygen, sulphur and chlorine react with hydrogen to form ammonia, water, hydrogensulphide and hydrogen chloride, respectively

Hydrogen is used for many purposes

It is used for making ammonia

In some chemical industries it is used as reducing agent.

When hydrogen reacts with not-metals like oxygen, nitrogen, etc. it gives respective hydrides

example:- N2 + 3H2 = 2NH3

nitrogen + hydrogen = ammonia
