give you three test tube A B C in this test tube given acid base distilled water and given you red litmus paper how will you identify these test tube contain acid or base or distilled

SquareRoot256: I will dip the red litmus paper in all three of the rest tubes.

The one which turns in blue is the base.

Now I will add a bit of base to both the test tubes. The test tube which has water will not show any reaction but the one with acid will show a reaction.
SquareRoot256: Sorry I couldn’t post it as a proper answer but two others are already answering.

Test tube in which red litmus turns blue contains base , when litmus turns red then it contains acid and when there is no change it contains distilled water which is neutral .

SquareRoot256: Red litmus will ONLY show a reaction with bad
SquareRoot256: with base **
SquareRoot256: BTW which class are you in? I think I am a bit more experienced that you are with chemistry.
SquareRoot256: See.. when you dip red litmus in base it will turn blue.

But after wars if you dip this “blue coloured” red litmus in acid it won’t work.
SquareRoot256: What is there in theory applies to practicals as well.
SquareRoot256: Hope you realise that.

ANSWER :

To identify which test tube contains what kind of water, we will dip the red litmus in all the 3 apparatus one after the other.

Case I : We will dip the red litmus in one of the test tube, and if the paper becomes blue in color then it will be confirmed that the test tube contains base.

Case II : Now dip the changed litmus, that is, the blue litmus in the two test tubes left. One solution will change blue litmus into red. Hence it can easily be identified that it is an acid.

Case III :  Now if the solution in the tube does not react to any colored litmus, then it will be distilled water.
