yes ,The most common type of hydroelectric power plant uses a dam on a river to storewater in a reservoir. Water released from the reservoir flows through a turbine, spinning it, which in turn activates a generator to produce electricity therefore it is friendly .

In hydroelectric plants, no air pollution occurs due to the combustion of fuel thus making the hydroelectric power plants environment friendly. However, it has an adverse effect on living creatures in the river and causes water pollution due to issues like forced migration of large community, submerging of forest and fertile land, etc., thus proving it to be non-eco-friendly.
It has always been a point of debate whether the hydroelectricity is environment friendly or not.
