Scientism holds only little relevance to the principles of political science

• It is an attempt to apply scientific theories, strategies, methods and attitudes to topics of social and political interest to humans.
• Mathematization in the social sciences has become increasingly prevalent and a study in political science is also indicative of this trend.
• Sometimes, complex mathematical models represent fact and have little relevance to public political debate as well.
• Indeed, in political science studies, much of the quantification is rife with mistakes, not least of which are reification and scientism.
