Gender-based violence (GBV) is a barrier to socio-economic growth. It is regrettable that we do not grant women the same power or liberty to be financially autonomous and contribute to civic growth in a developing world like India, where the only criteria for development are GDP and welfare

Explanation:

  • In India violence is prevalent against women and children. Despite the progressive legislative action that women's rights movements, media and campaigns have been putting in place during recent years, many women still face discrimination and violence on a daily basis.
  • In both public and private contexts, violence focused on gender exists. The systemic & social inequalities frequently under report it and formal mechanisms to deal with it remain ineffective. Women in Adivasi, Dalit, & other oppressed groups are affected by sexual violence in particular. Their marginalisation also limits their access to justice
  • There are strata in which women are deprived of basic resources, are dependent financially on their families and their health and well-being are frequently neglected. Spousal violence in India is so well known and common that most people believe that woman-beating is Acceptable. This distressing pattern is directly contributed by the low level of education.

According to my opinion Gender-based violence is a major issue that requires attention. Women and girls should not be subjected to violence based solely on their gender. This form of violence can have a significant impact on the lives of individuals who are affected, so we must do everything we can to prevent it.
