noble gases are placed in the group 18 of the periodic table.
the first reason for the noble gases being placed in a separate group is because all of them have completely filled outermost shells.they are the only members of the periodic table with completely filled outermost shells so they are placed in the same group.
the reactivity of elements decreases when going from left to right in a period we know that noble gases are very less reactive in fact they are the least reactive of all the elements so they are placed in the same group.
