A few ways that could ensure a quick spread of literacy:
1. Children in most remote villages, do not have the access to proper schools as the local literacy might not be high and migration of the educated to cities in search of employment opportunities is inevitable.
Hence, we need to find a way to make this cause as widespread as possible. Private schools, Government schools and NGO's have to work together to make quality education more accessible. Training of local village teachers over the weekends by nearby well established schools could help improve the quality of education.
2. Every good school must have at least a few classes where under privileged children can benefit from its teachers. Schools lately charge exorbitant fees in the name of quality education and infrastructure. If for every 1000 fees-paying students it has, even if a 100 local children could benefit, it would make a huge difference.
3. Huge industries and companies that employ manual contract laborers could definitely make arrangements for the education of their employees' children.
4. It's an open secret, that child labor is far from gone in the country. If we can employ little kids as domestic help, why can't we make sure they go to an evening school for a couple of hours each day?
The population of our country does not help in making this an easy process. Hence, it is very important for the likes of us to start working together. It is easy to sit in the comforts of our house and crib about the lack of literacy in the country and how our government is inefficient. Maybe, if people actually start making efforts, things could really change and not just remain an agenda for 2020.
