Given 11x+ 3y=27 and 3x-5y=11 then value of x+y = ?

Answer:

3 (11x+3y=27)

11 (3x-5y=11)

33x+9y=81

33x-55y=121

subtracting the equations

we get

64y=-40

y=-40/64=-5/8

now putting the value of y in equation

11x+3(-5/8)=27

11x -15/8=27

11x=15/8+27

11x=231/8

x=231/8×11=12/8=3/2

x=3/2, y=-5/8
