Given :-

  • 3x + 2y = 14
  • xy = 8

To find :-

  • 9x² + 4y²

Solution :-

→ 3x + 2y = 14

  • squaring both side

→ (3x + 2y)² = (14)²

  • Apply identity
  • (a + b)² = a² + b² + 2ab

→ (3x)² + (2y)² + 2 × 3x × 2y = 196

→ 9x² + 4y² + 12xy = 196

  • Put the value of xy

→ 9x² + 4y² + 12 × 8 = 196

→ 9x² + 4y² + 96 = 196

→ 9x² + 4y² = 196 - 96

→ 9x² + 4y² = 100

Hence,

  • The value of 9x² + 4y² is 100
