Given A= {3, 4, 5, 6}. Let R be the relation in A defined as R= {(a, b): (a + b) ≤ 12, a,b∈A}, Determine whether
R is reflexive, symmetric and transitive. Give reasons.

Step-by-step explanation:

for reflexive

a+a<=12

and on taking valye of a=6

we get 12=12 therefore reflexive

for symmetric

if a+b<=12 then b+a<=12

which is true

therefore it is symmetric

foe transitive

example

if a+b<=12 and c+a<=12

therefore for transitive b+c<=12

let take a=5 b=7 c=7

therfore b+c=7+7=14

which is greater than 12 hence transitive
