Given : a circle with centre P. seg AC is a diameter

point B is outside the circle.

To find  : type of angle ABC.

Solution:

Join  AB intersecting circle at point D

Jon CD

in ΔADC   , AC is diameter

Hence ∠ADC = 90°

in ΔCDB

∠ADC  =  ∠DBC  + ∠DCB   ( Exterior angle of triangle = Sum of interior angles )

∠DBC  = ∠ABC  (∵ ADB is straight line)

∠ADC  =  ∠ABC  + ∠DCB

=> 90° =  ∠ABC  + ∠DCB

=>   ∠ABC = 90° -  ∠DCB

=> ∠ABC < 90°

Hence ∠ABC  is acute angle

type of angle ABC.  is Acute
