Given:

meanM=50

medianM_{e} =40

standard deviations=5

To find: the shape of distriibution.

Solution:

Know that,

  • If \[S <  - 0.5\], then the distribution is left skewed.
  • If \[S > 0.5\], then the disribution is right skewed.

Check whether shape of distribution.

The coefficient is,

\[\begin{array}{l}S = \frac{{3\left( {M - {M_e}} \right)}}{s}\\ \Rightarrow S = \frac{{3\left( {50 - 40} \right)}}{5}\\ \Rightarrow S = \frac{{30}}{5}\\ \Rightarrow S = 6\end{array}\]

Hence, the distribution is right-skewed.
