Answer:

This question is wrong but if you still want answer here you go

       x = 4-R/2R

Explanation:

Let us start our answer by assuming that the gases A and B do not react with each other.

Since given mixture contains two unreactive gases, it doesn't matter what kind of gases are those. Instead the pressure, volume, temperature just depend on total number of moles.

Here, total number of moles(n) is 0.5+x

         pressure(p) is 200 pa

         volume is 10 m³

         Temperature is 1000 K

  and universal gas constant (R) is 8.314 J/mol-K

Using the ideal gas equation pv = nRT

200*10=(0.5+x)*8.314*1000

(0.5+x)=0.24

x=-0.26

clearly this is absurd. I saw this question in my book also. In that they don't substitute R value. they keep it R instead. But if you just want answer do not plug R value. Doing so,

R(0.5+x)=2

0.5+x=2/R

x=2/R - 1/2

x = 4-R/2R
