Given :  a point A(x,y) such that x+y=7,y-x=1

To Find : A lies in which quadrant

Solution:

x + y = 7

y - x = 1

Adding both

=> x + y + y - x = 7 + 1

=> 2y = 8

=> y = 4

Substituting in x + y = 7

=> x + 4 = 7

=> x = 3

Hence point A is ( 3 , 4)

so point A lies in first Quadrant

A point P(x , y)

lies in Quadrant I   if  x and y both are positive

lies in quadrant II  if x is - ve and y is + ve

lies in Quadrant III   if  x and y both are negative

lies in quadrant IV  if x is + ve and y is -  ve
