Given a triangle with side AB = 8 cm. To get a line segment AX = 3/4 of AB.

$= \frac{3}{4} \times 8 = 6cm$

AB = 8cm ; AX = 6cm

BX = AB - AX = 8 - 6 = 2cm

AX : BX = 6 : 2 = 3 : 1

hence,the required ratio is 3 : 1
