(i)Assertion(A) :The biodiversity found in Pachmarhi Biosphere Reserve is unique.
Reason(R) : The plants and animals found in the Pachmarhi Biosphere Reserve are similar to
those found in the upper Himalayan Peaks and to those belonging to lower Western Ghats
(ii) Assertion(A) :Endemic species are those species of plants and animals which are found
exclusively in a particular area.
Reason(R) : Giant squirrel , flying squirrel and bison are endemic to Lockchao Wildlife
Sanctuary(Manipur) because they are exclusively found in that particular area and do not exist
outside that area.
(iii) Assertion(A) : Project Tiger is a wildlife conservation project launched by the Government of
India in 1972 to ensure survival and maintenance of the tiger population of the country.
Reason(R) : Tiger is no longer considered to be an endangered species any more so the
money spent on the Project by the Government was a total wastage of money.
(iv) Assertion(A) : Tiger , Snow leopard , Desert Cat , Asiatic Lion are some examples of
endangered species.
Reason(R): The above animals are endangered species because they depend on some small
animals as their food which will soon become extinct.
