Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A).

Paschimottasana is a type of forward bending asana. All forward bending asanas are contradicted since it put pressure on pelvis and lower back. So the reason for contradicting Paschimottasana is it being a forward bending asana .Thus assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explaination of assertion.

Is the correct option of this question.

Paschimottanasana (Seated Forward Bend) is a basic yoga position that many practitioners skip through. However, stretching the upper half of your body over the seated bottom half helps stretch the entire back of your body and improves physical flexibility. Folding inward gives mental peace as well.

"Forward bends are difficult for the majority of us," explains yoga instructor Barbara Benagh. "Many of the fitness activities we engage in, such as jogging and weight training, build strength at the price of flexibility." Sitting at a desk all day also doesn't help." Excessive activity and sitting can lead to stiff hips, back, and legs. Pascimottanasana counteracts this.
