Decoding the code :

  • The first digit gives the number of letters in the name of month.
  • The second digit gives the number of month of the year it is.
  • The remaining last digit(s) gives the number which the first letter of the month corresponds in the alphabetical order.

August : 681

September : 9919

October : 71015

November : 81114

December : 8124

tushar0007: yes.. pls answer my question..
Anonymous: i think same
Anonymous: as i got these questions in my hhw from school
tushar0007: but I think it's different... because if it's same the question should not ask for average...
Anonymous: ok then it might be different
Anonymous: in that question we have to cut one of the wood peice into 3 and then one of the three parts should be of average length of the other two parts so i think both the wood peices r of same length as the 2nd wood peice is of no use
tushar0007: no... I think u misunderstood..
Anonymous: ohk then u pls solve it
tushar0007: yes... I am thinking over it..

January = 7110

February = 826

March = 5313

April = 541

May = 3513

June = 4610

July = 4710

Here some codes are in the form abc while the others are in the form abcd.

First I'm considering the second digit from left of each code.

January = 7110

February = 826

March = 5313

April = 541

May = 3513

June = 4610

July = 4710

January = 1

February = 2

March = 3

April = 4

May = 5

June = 6

July = 7

Here each code represents the position number of the months, so if we represent the code of August, September, October, November and December as abc, we will get,

August = a8c

September = a9c

October = a10c

November = a11c

December = a12c

Here b is replaced by the position numbers.

Now I'm considering the first digit from left of each code.

January = 7110

February = 826

March = 5313

April = 541

May = 3513

June = 4610

July = 4710

January = 7

February = 8

March = 5

April = 5

May = 3

June = 4

July = 4

These imply the no. of letters in each word of months. So, in the form abc, we write,

August = 68c

September = 99c

October = 710c

November = 811c

December = 812c

Now I'm considering the third and the rest digits from left of the code taken at one time (means taking cd from abcd.)

January = 7110

February = 826

March = 5313

April = 541

May = 3513

June = 4610

July = 4710

January = 10

February = 6

March = 13

April = 1

May = 13

June = 10

July = 10

These imply the position number of the first letter of each word of months in alphabet!

So in the form of abc, we can finally write,

August = 681

September = 9919

October = 71015

November = 81114

December = 8124
