"Given below is the diagram of agarose gel kept under UV light:    
(a) Mention the positive and negative terminals.  (b) What is the charge carried by DNA molecule and how does it help in its separation? (c) How are the separated DNA fragments finally isolated?   "

a) Positive terminal - ‘B’ (it is the terminal which is far away from the wells .                                                        

Negative terminal - ‘A’ (it is the terminal which is near to wells)

b) DNA being negatively charged molecule, moves towards the positive        

 electrode (anode)that's how the separartion of DNA occurs.

 c)The separated  DNA fragments are isolated by the process called eluction

 By elution - separated bands of DNA are cut out from the agarose gel and extracted from the gel piece.

after this, the cutted piece of gel is placed under the UV rays with ETBR (ethedium bromide) added in it.
