Step-by-step explanation:

for f(x) to continuous at x=h, then

f(h+) = f(h-)

f(2-) = 2

f(2+) = a×2-b

f(x) is continuous at 2, so f(2+)=f(2-)

=> 2=2a-b

b= 2a-2 ---X

f(8+)= 15

f(8-) = a×8-b

f(x) is continuous at 8, so f(8+)= f(8-)

=> 15=8a-b

b = 8a -15 ---Y

solve equations X,Y

2a-2 = 8a-15

15-2 =8a-2a

6a = 13

a= 13/6 = 2 1/6

b = 13/3 -2 =7/3= 2 1/3
