Given info : density of cylindrical metal wire is 1 kg/m³ , diameter of cross sectional of wire is 2 mm and length of the wire is 32 cm.
To find : the mass of the wire is ..
solution : first we should find the volume of cylindrical metal wire.
volume of wire = volume of cylinder = πr²l
here radius of wire, r = diamter of wire/2 = 2mm/2 = 1 mm = 10⁻³ m
length of wire, l = 32 cm = 3.2 m
now volume of wire = 3.14 × (10⁻³)² × 3.2 ≈ 10⁻⁵ m³
we know density is the ratio of mass and volume of an object.
so, density of wire = mass of wire/volume of wire
⇒ 1 kg/m³ = mass of wire/10⁻⁵ m³
⇒ mass of wire = 10⁻⁵ kg = 10 mg
therefore the mass of the metalic wire is 10 mg.
