Given line segments AB = 7.4 cm and CD = 3.5 cm. Construct a line segment PQ such
that PQ= AB - CD. Verify by measurement. ​

Steps of construction:

(i) Draw a line 'l ' and take a point X on it.

(ii) Construct XZ bar such that length XZ bar = length of AB bar = 7.3 cm

(iii) Then cut off ZY bar = length of CD bar = 3.4 cm

(iv) Thus the length of XY bar = length of AB bar – length of CD bar Verification: By measurement we find that length of XY bar = 3.9 cm = 73. Cm – 3.4 cm = AB bar = CD barsegment-xy-bar
