ɢɪᴠᴇɴ:

  • 8tanA = 15.

ᴛᴏ ғɪɴᴅ:

  • Value of sinA - cosA.

ᴀɴsᴡᴇʀ:

Its given that 8 tanA = 15.

=> 8tanA = 15.

=> tanA = 15/8.

Now we know that tan = perpendicular/base.

=> p/b = 15/8.

Let ratio be 15x:8x

We must find hypotenuse now ,

=> h² = p² + b².

=> h² = (15x)² + (8x)².

=> h² = 225x² + 64x².

=> h² = 289x²

=> h = √289x²

=> h = 17x.

So ,

  • sinA = p/h = 15x/17x = 15/17.
  • cosA = b/h = 8x/17x = 8/17.

Hence sinA - cosA

= 15/17 - 8/17.

= 15-8/17

= 7/17.

Hence the required answer is 7/17.
