Therefore (a + 2 b).a = 0

        Now a^2 + 2 ab = 0

But a + b = r

      a = r – b

So (r – b)^2 + 2b(r – b) = 0

    r ^2 – 2 r b + b^2 + 2b.r – 2b^2 = 0

     r^2 – b^2 = 0

 (r – b)(r + b) = 0

  So r = ± b
