To Find:

Find OQ

Solution:

In the triangle OPB which is a right-angled triangle we know the value of OP=6 and PB = because OP is perpendicular to the chord so it will divide the chord into two equal parts, now using the Pythagoras theorem we have,

r^2=6^2+3^2\\r=\sqrt{45}

so we have the value of the radius of the circle, now in the triangle OQD we can again apply the Pythagoras theorem to find the value OQ, which goes as

r^2=OQ^2+4^2\\45=OQ^2+16\\OQ=\sqrt{29}\\=5.38cm

Hence, the value of OQ is root29 or 5.38cm.
