Let PRQ BE A RIGHT ANGLED TRIANGLE AT R, ANGLE R IS 90 DEGREE

LET ∠PQR =∅

SO BY PYTHAGORUS THEOREM

PQ²=PR²+QR²

→b²-a²=QR²

→QR=√b²-a²

cos∅=base/ hypotenus

so cos∅= √b²-a²   /   b²
