Given that sound travels in air at 340m/sec, find the wavelength of the waves in air produced by 20 kHz sound source. If the some source is put in a water tank, what would be the wavelength of the sound waves in water?

Answer:

Given, (in air)

Velocity V = 340m / s

Frequency f = 20,000 Hz

Wavelength = ?

V = f.Wavlength

Wavelength = V / F

= 340 / 20,000

= 0.017 Hz

Also Given (in water)

Velocity, V = 1480m / s

Frequency f = 20,000 Hz

Wavelength = ?

V = F. Wavelenght

Wavelength= V / F

= 1480 / 20,000

= 0.074 Hz
