Given that the refractive index of kerosene is 1.44 and of water is 1.33(a) give reason .explain in which of two media the speed of light would higher?(b) write the unit of refractive index . Give reason for your answer.

In water speed of light will be higher because it has lower refractive index than that of kerosene which means that it is less denser than kerosene.
There is no unit for refractive index and even it has we hadn't learnt it yet.

Here is your answer...

a) water has lower refractive index so the speed of light is higher in water as compare to water


b) the refractive index has no SI unit becz it is the ratio of two similiar quantitiy
