A/c to the question:

Y ∝ 1/x

y= k x …(1)

where k=constant

value of k from (1)

k= (y) (x)

let again:

before change

K= (y1) (x1) … (2)

after change

K= (y2) (x2) …(3)

equating (2) and (3), we get

(y1) (x1) = (y2) (x2) …(5)

here we are given:

x1= 4

y1= 3

x2=8

y2=?

by rearranging (5) for y2

y2= (y1) (x1) / (x2)

y2= (3) (4) / (8)

y2= { (3) (4) } / { (4) (2) }

four four get cancel

y2=3/2 =1.5 (Answer)
