a) \sqrt{35}

b) \sqrt{362}

Given:

A=3i-4j+4k

B=2i+3j-7k

To find:

The magnitude of the vectors:

a) A+B

b) 2A-B

Solution:

a) A + B

=> A+B = (3i-4j+4k) + (2i+3j-7k)

=> A+B = 5i-j-3k

Magnitude = \sqrt{25 + 1 + 9} =\sqrt{35}

b) 2A - B

=> 2A-B = (6i-8j+8k) - (2i+3j-7k)

=> 2A-B = 4i -11j + 15k

Magnitude = \sqrt{16 + 121 + 225} = \sqrt{362}
