mean = (5+ 12+ 41+ 48 +58+ 14+ 43+ 50+ 59+ 15+ 79)/11 = 424/11 = 38.5

Deviations from mean: -33.5, -26.5, 2.5, 9.5, 19.5, -24.5, 4.5, 11.5, 20.5, -23.5, 40.5

Mean deviation 9we consider absolute values) = (
33.5 +26.5 + 2.5 + 9.5 + 19.5 +24.5 + 4.5 + 11.5 + 20.5 + 23.5 + 40.5)/11 = 19.7

To find standard deviation, we square the deviations first.

Mean Square deviations: (1122.3+702.3+6.3+90.3+380.3+600.3+20.3+132.3+420.3+552.3+1640)/11 = 515.2

Standard deviation = root 515.2 = 22.7
