Question:-

Given the side of a square as 5 units, find its area. If the area of the square increases 16 times, by how many times will its side increase?

Solution:-

Side= 5units

Area = Side × Side

Area = 5 × 5

Area = 25unit²

• Area of the square increases 16,

=> 25unit² + 16 = 41unit²

• How many times will its side increase?

Let side be x

=> Area = Side × Side

=> 41² = x × x

=> 41² = x²

=> 41 = x

Now the new side = 41

• To check how much it is increased=

=> New Side - Old side

=> Side 2 - Side 1

=> 41 - 5

=> 36

∴ The side is increased by 36unit
