if 2 forces are F1 and F2,

a) then the maximum magnitude of force acts when both the forces act in the same direction (i.e. at an angle of 0°)

Maximum magnitude of force=F1 + F2

b) minimum magnitude of force occurs when the 2 forces act in opposite directions (i.e. at an angle of 180°)

Minimum magnitude of force=F1 - F2
